CoE MARBLE at IEEE MARIS 2025

IEEE Symposium on Maritime Informatics and robotics took place June 26-27 in Syros, Greece. The symposium sought to highlight cutting-edge research and developments that propel maritime technology into a new era and become the premier event for maritime informatics & robotics.

Bringing together global leaders in oceanic engineering, IEEE MARIS 2025 served as a premier platform to present pioneering research, foster interdisciplinary dialogue, and showcase collaborative advancements in maritime technologies.

UNIZG-FER and CoE MARBLE delivered two impactful presentations based on research and results from their joint project activities, each addressing key technological challenges in the marine domain:

1. “Detection, Classification and Identification of Objects in Underwater Harsh Environments Using Machine Learning”,  presented by Dr. Fausto Ferreira (co-authors: Đula Nađ, Bartul Kajmak, Lovre Rančev, Lucija Renić, Vilim Skorić, Niko Škurla, Gabriele Ferri, Alessandro Faggiani)  2. “Development of a Low-Cost Environmental Monitoring Buoy: A Case Study from the SeaTecHub Project,” presented by Dr. Barbara Arbanas Ferreira (co-autors: Martin Oreč, Juraj Obradović, Nikola Mišković)

The Symposium featured selected presentations and panel sessions presenting recent developments in autonomous systems, robotics, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, big data analytics and machine learning, and the applications they enable in the maritime domain.
