MARBLE is pleased to announce the formal signing of the partnership agreement for the ARTEMIS project. Joining a high-caliber consortium of academic and industrial leaders, including Iskra Shipyard and other prominent European partners, MARBLE will play a pivotal role in driving the digital and green transition of the maritime sector.
The ARTEMIS project aims to modernize maritime operations through the integration of advanced technology and sustainable practices. For MARBLE, this partnership represents a significant step in translating high-level robotics research into tangible industrial applications.
Our contribution to the project is spearheaded by our research team, focusing on the “intelligence” behind modern maritime systems. MARBLE Head of Research Barbara Arbanas Ferreira, highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration:
“We are excited to see the ARTEMIS project moving forward and to be part of this strong consortium. At MARBLE, our role focuses on developing ship autonomy and multi-robot coordination and decision-making for real-world environmental monitoring and protection. This also includes leveraging our specialized pilot sites and infrastructure for testing and validation.”
Within the framework of ARTEMIS, MARBLE will focus on:
Testing & Validation: Using our dedicated pilot sites to bridge the gap between lab-tested concepts and real-world shipyard and maritime environments.
Ship Autonomy: Developing robust systems for autonomous vessel navigation and operation.
Multi-Robot Coordination: Designing decision-making frameworks that allow multiple robotic units to work in harmony for complex tasks.
Environmental Monitoring: Utilizing MARBLE pilot sites to enhance the protection and monitoring of marine ecosystems.
More info about the project will be available soon.
