Breaking the Surface 2025
The Breaking the Surface (BtS) international interdisciplinary field workshop on maritime robotics and its applications will be held from to November 9 to 16, 2025, in Limassol (Cyprus).

Key Research Areas
Maritime Robotics and Autonomous Systems
Encompasses a variety of marine robots, including underwater and surface vehicles, aerial robots, ground robots operating in coastal environments, and autonomous unmanned ships.
Maritime Green Endurance
Includes conventional renewable energy systems exploiting solar, wind, and wave energy with specific applications in remote island areas, underwater recharging stations, and docking algorithms for unmanned vehicles.
Maritime Internet-of-Things
Addresses a network of physical devices embedded with electronics, software, sensors, actuators, and network connectivity, operating in maritime environments.
Maritime Digital Twins
Maritime digital twins are still in their early stages of development focusing on environmental monitoring and shipping.
