EMD 2026

European Maritime Day events in Cyprus on May 21-22, 2026, brought together stakeholders from across the blue economy, including researchers, industry representatives, policymakers, innovators, public authorities, and the wider ocean community to exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration around the future of Europe’s seas and oceans.

Three Centres of Excellence grabbed a seat at the Stretto Cafe for two insightful workshops on marine robotics and R&I for a sustainable relationship with the sea – MARBLE, INESCTEC.OCEAN and CMMI. MARBLE’s director Nikola Mišković shared our experience, learnings, and reflections on ocean innovation, as well as the latest developments in marine technology solutions.

The day before, on May 21, our Head of RSO Fausto Ferreira participated in another workshop that created an excellent space for discussion around marine robotics, autonomous systems, maritime situational awareness, environmental monitoring, and the future of resilient and sustainable ocean technologies in Europe.

The workshop was organized as by CMMI, DTU, NTNU, INESC TEC, UNIZG-FER and MARBLE, with contributions from the EU-funded Horizon Europe projects:
 🔹 LORELEI-X Project
 🔹 AXOLOTL Project
 🔹 SeaTecHub-EU
