Conference On the Occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
On Thursday, February 5, 2026, at 9:30 AM, the FER WIN – Women in Innovation conference will be held in the Gray Council Room (Siva vijećnica) at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER), University of Zagreb. The event will showcase current achievements in research and innovation within the fields of electrical engineering and computing. The program consists of invited lectures, our Head of Research Barbara Arbanas Ferreira being one of the speakers, and a round table discussion.

1. Invited Lectures
Featuring presentations by two prominent researchers:
- Prof. Lea Skorin-Kapov, PhD
- Head of the MUEXLab! Research Laboratory and winner of the 2025 FER Science Award.
- Topic: From Technology to Experience: User Experience in the Age of Immersive Technologies.
- Description: An overview of contemporary research on user experience and Quality of Experience (QoE) in multimedia and immersive systems, with a special focus on XR technologies.
- Barbara Arbanas Ferreira, PhD
- Head of the Research Department at CoE MARBLE and winner of the 2025 Danubius Young Scientist Award.
- Topic: Cooperative Heterogeneous Robotic Systems for Autonomous Operations in Marine Environments.
- Description: This lecture will present research on autonomous robotic systems and multi-robot collaboration in maritime settings, including applications in surveillance, inspection, and rescue.
2. Round Table
The theme of the round table is Institutional Support for the Career Development of Female Researchers:
Assoc. Prof. Anamari Nakić, PhD, head of the MODISTe research laboratory, winner of the 2018 National Award for Science Popularization, and President of the Committee for Ensuring Equal Opportunities, will present FER’s new Gender Equality Plan.
Antonella Barišić Kulaš, PhD, a researcher at FER and winner of the prestigious L’Oréal-UNESCO “For Women in Science” national award, will lead a panel discussion on planning, developing, and implementing higher education programs and activities to support the careers of women in research.
