ROV Training at Martinska

Continuous education and hands-on experience remain at the core of technological advancement. On May 13, 2026, members of MARBLE team gathered at the Ruđer Bošković Institute (IRB) Marine Research Station in Martinska for a training session focused on ROV FIFISH.

The training session brought together key team members, including Mario Prečanica, Gordan Aužina and Tomislav Bulat. The day kicked off inside the IRB premises, where expert instructor led a comprehensive lecture on AUV systems. The team went through the intricate processes of assembling, calibrating, and maintaining these high-tech underwater drones.

Once the theoretical groundwork was laid, the team moved to the waterfront right in front of the research station. There, they initiated the first practical phase of the training, testing the vehicle’s maneuvering capabilities and getting a firsthand feel for the controls in the local waters. Following the successful initial trials, the team boarded a boat and headed to a shellfish farm located near the Šibenik Bridge. This location offered the perfect real-world environment for advanced flight practice.

The successful completion of this training marks another step forward for the team in mastering cutting-edge marine technology, ensuring they remain ready for complex underwater research and commercial applications.
