ICRA 2026 (Vienna)

MARBLE attended the IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) 2026, June 1-5, held in Vienna, Austria. As the flagship conference of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, ICRA is widely recognized as one of the world’s premier robotics events. This year’s edition gathered around 8,000 top experts, engineers, and industry leaders from across the globe to present the latest breakthroughs in robotics, artificial intelligence, and autonomous systems.

Representing MARBLE, Dr. Barbara Arbanas Ferreira and Dr. Fausto Ferreira actively participated in the high-profile scientific program, showcasing the center’s advanced marine platforms and co-shaping the dialogue around ecological responsibility in technology.

During the conference’s dedicated poster sessions, the team presented a prominent research paper published in the IEEE Robotics & Automation Magazine: “Heterogeneous Multirobot Team: Maritime Inspection and Intervention in Global Navigation Satellite System-Denied Scenarios”Ferreira, B.A., Ivanovic, A., Peti, M., Mandić, L., Batoš, M., Domislović, J., Vasiljević, G., Obradović, J., Ferreira, F., Petric, F. and Barišić-Kulaš, A.

In addition to the main tracks, the MARBLE researchers made substantial contributions to workshops addressing the intersection of advanced technology and environmental protection:

– Circular Robotics: Designing Sustainable Autonomy for a Finite World (co-organised)

– REaCT: Robotics for Environmental Assessment and Climate acTion
