001 / The building Currently under renovation

Inside the former Brodarski Institut.

MARBLE's headquarters spans 3,500 square metres within the former Brodarski Institut complex, a historic naval research facility being transformed into Croatia's first dedicated maritime robotics centre.

The building is currently undergoing extensive renovation. When complete, it will house four specialised laboratories, a 30-metre circular basin for experimental validation in controlled indoor environments, a mobile field-deployment unit, open collaborative workspaces, and a remote command and control centre for our three Adriatic pilot sites.

002 / Inside HQ

A lab for every phase. All under one roof.

Each laboratory supports a specific phase of maritime technology development, from rapid prototyping and system integration to aerial and underwater testing and digital-twin validation.

01Hardware Prototyping

Where concepts become hardware.

Equipped with CNC machines, 3D printers, soldering stations, and full mechanical and electronic assembly instrumentation. Built to move designs from sketch to working prototype in days, not months.

What it enables
  • Custom maritime hardware fabrication
  • Electronics assembly and PCB integration
  • Mechanical iteration on sensor housings and vehicle components
  • Rapid turnaround between design and physical test

02UAV Test Range

Net-enclosed UAV testing environment.

Hardware-in-the-loop experiments simulate real-world maritime scenarios (takeoffs and landings on moving platforms, obstacle navigation, multi-UAV coordination) in a controlled, safety-first environment.

What it enables
  • UAV autonomy testing under simulated maritime conditions
  • Multi-vehicle coordination trials (aerial + surface + underwater stack)
  • Landing-on-moving-platform research
  • Iterative tuning before open-water deployment

03Underwater Basin

30-metre circular test basin for underwater and surface vehicles.

Fully instrumented with a vision-based localisation system and acoustic localisation systems. The pool gives MARBLE a fully controlled environment to validate autonomous underwater behaviour before vehicles are committed to open-water trials.

What it enables
  • Sensor calibration and integration validation
  • Aerial and underwater positioning research in controlled conditions
  • Navigation testing
  • Docking manoeuvre validation

04Mission Control Room

The operational command centre.

A high-tech operational hub that connects engineers in Zagreb directly to MARBLE's three Adriatic pilot sites. Real-time data monitoring, remote equipment control, and comprehensive mission simulations all run from here, using digital-twin technology to mirror operations as they unfold at sea.

What it enables
  • Real-time monitoring of pilot site operations
  • Remote control of deployed equipment
  • Digital-twin simulation of missions at sea
  • Coordinated experiments across multiple sites simultaneously
003 / Field deployment

Field research, anywhere.

A fully self-contained control room designed for experiments in remote coastal and island environments, with the same instrumentation MARBLE uses at HQ.

The mobile lab brings the workshop to the field. Designed for deployment beyond our pilot sites, it enables experiments and technical work at any location with suitable access. The unit provides electronics workstations, 3D-printing capabilities, equipment storage and communications infrastructure, allowing teams to conduct and support field experiments directly on site.
